"We all have things that happen to us. The waves that crash... But it's the undertow; you can't see it, you don't expect it." - Nikki Alexander
Here is my Silent Witness News website.
That is all.
Okay, anon. It’s time to talk. Now, read carefully because I am about to give you ten very deep and very meaningful reasons as to why what you said is complete BULLSHIT.
Right. Observe while I discuss the above gifs.
- He is the first person she calls. It doesn’t get much more meaningful than that. It shows that they really are closer to each other than they are to anyone else.
- Nikki should hate Harry in this episode. He kissed her and then totally neglected this fact because his dead ex-girlfriend turned up on the slab. But yet when he finds out some sad stuff about said ex, she is there to comfort him. She mutters “Harry, it’s not your fault” over and over again in this moment, as if what happened between them is completely unimportant compared to his belief in himself.
- Nikki has just said goodbye to her recently deceased father, she’s upset, and yet she turns around and oh look! Harry’s standing there. Because he’s always there. And she walks straight to him, linking her arm through his to eliminate all physical space between them (they eliminate physical space a lot, actually).
- Look how scared Harry is when he thinks Nikki is dead. I do believe his exact words are: “Please God no” as he removes his coat. If he hadn’t have been down in the basement looking for her in the first place then she would probably have died. He saved her life, really.
- Ooh, I love this scene. Both Leo and the grumpy policeman are all “What’s she playing at?” and “Come on, Nikki!” as Nikki interviews Mears. They clearly have a lack of faith in her abilities. But it is Harry who says “Wait”. Because he knows her completely, and he knows that she can do this. He believes in her wholly, even when no one else does.
- When Nikki has her breakdown in this episode she puts up all her defensive barriers, quite literally shutting Harry out. But he’s persistent, checking up on her constantly. He refuses to leave her alone until he knows she’s okay.
- Look how pleased he is to see that she’s not been strangled to death! Look at the relief and determination in his face as he hugs her, as if he’s saying to himself that he’s never going to let her out of his sight again (although he could have done with working a little harder on this).
- I know you probably haven’t seen this scene in And Then I Fell In Love yet, but I’ve giffed it so you have no excuse. It’s beautiful. Harry reaches out to comfort Nikki and she pulls away. Because she doesn’t want to admit that she’s not okay. She doesn’t want to need him. But she does need him, and he knows that. Which is why he doesn’t let go of her the whole time. And she realises this and actually apologises, and he just accepts her. He’s always there. He is her constant.
- So Nikki’s all upset and Harry cracks a joke. Which might seem insensitive, but it’s not because he knows her. And he knows exactly what to do to put a smile on her face. And she does laugh, and Harry’s smile at knowing that he’s made her feel a little better is just wonderful.
- Does it need saying? Look at them. LOOK AT THEM.
Now, I would think twice before leaving such a ridiculous statement about my OTP of OTPs in my ask next time, okay?
Ha, thank you. I don’t update as nearly as often as I should though.
